Men's MS1 League Softball

  • Days Played - Wednesday nights

  • Starting Date - May 5, 2008

  • Game Times - 6:15, 7:15, 8:15 and 9:15 p.m.

  • Fields Used - Memorial and Mill Parks

  • Home and Away - Flip of a coin to determine home team and visiting team.

  • Run Rules - 10 Run rule after 5 innings, and 20 run rule after 3½

  • Game Postponement Most games will be postponed by umpire.  If it has been raining all day and the Parks and Recreation Department feels it could pose a liability problem, it reserves the right to postpone a game. Please call the rainout number at 454-2900 ext. 3350 if the rain out website page has not been updated.

  • Number of players participating in the game - We will use the rule in the book. If there is not a person batting in the 10th batting position, no out is recorded.

  • Number of players playing because of an injury Teams will not take an out for an injury but  will complete with as many players that can play.

  • Ejection - A player ejected from game will be suspended from league play. If the ejected player cannot be replaced, the game will be forfeited.  Player suspension:   Players who receive a game disqualification according to ASA/MSF guidelines will also receive a ten day suspension which begins the day following the incident. Suspended players are not allowed on park property during the suspension period. The suspended player's team will not be allowed to play if the suspended player is on park property and that game will also be forfeited if the suspended player does not leave immediately. Reinstatement: suspensions shall be immediate and remain in effect until such time that the suspended party and his team manager appear before the Parks and Recreation Sportsmanship and Eligibility committee.

  • Number of games per season - 30

  • Home Run Rule - There is  a home run limit for 1 for D &  2 for DD teams, a 3 home run limit for C teams, a 4 home run limit for CC teams, and a 6 home run limit for B & BB teams. The batter is ruled out for any excess home runs.

  • Courtesy Runner - The  person who made the last out is the courtesy runner.

  • Balls Make sure that when a ball is hit outside the fence by one of your players, your team needs to retrieve it or supply the umpire with another ball. You will only get one new ball to start a game.

  • Blood Rule - You need to carry an extra shirt and pants to accommodate the blood borne pathogen rule in the book.

  • Causal Profanity - Rule will be enforced as per ASA/MSF guidelines.

  • League Standings - All games will count in the league standings that go into the newspaper or web site. Because of the large diverse classifications, the team standings for B, C, CC, DD, D and EE teams will be separate for post- season play.

  • Make Up Games- at the end of the season

  • Time Limit - One hour game time limit. We will use the tie breaker rule if running late per game. Please hustle your players in and out of the field to keep the games on schedule. Tie breaker rule: The batter who made the last out will be put on second base to start an inning and three outs must occur. The same rule applies for the home team. At the end of that inning, a winner will be declared if a run  scores. If no runs score, the game will end in a tie with a  point going to each team.

We ask that you please pick up any cans that you may toss on the ground or cups used when drinking.  We do not want to have to enforce any drinking ordinances, so help out.  Do not sit and drink after 9:15 games as the police will ask people to leave the parks after those games.
