Ten lessons will be taught over a two week period with rain dates to follow because of postponements due to inclement weather. Classes are scheduled in the afternoons to provide for a warmer, more pleasant swimming experience. Parents may be required to be in the water with their child during lessons.

LEVEL 1: Water Exploration:

• Supported kicking and floating on front and back

• Alternating arm action

• Water safety rules

• How to get help in an emergency

• Researching assists without equipment

• Fundamentals of using a life jacket

LEVEL 2: Primary Skills:

• Floating and kicking on front and back
• Rhythmic breathing
• Combined stroke on front and back
• Turning over front to back and back to front
• Researching extension assists
• Familiarity with rescue breathing

LEVEL 3: Stroke Readiness:

• Fundamentals of elementary back stroke

• Jumping into deep water with a life jacket

• Treading water

• Self rescue skills and rescue breathing

LEVEL 4: Stroke development:

• Deep water bobbing

• Breast stroke and sidestroke

• Familiarity with CPR
